Diederik has worked for more than 10 years in the tax law practice where he advises a diverse range of clients, including internationally operating companies, private equity parties, venture capitalists and high net worth individuals. He is a sparring partner for CEOs, CFOs, DGAs and managers. He likes to approach tax advice from different angles, combining the tax-theoretical aspects with the legal and economic aspects.
Diederik is mainly involved in restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, divisions, start-ups, business succession and asset structuring. In addition to his extensive knowledge of international tax law, corporate income tax, income tax and dividend tax, he has acquired special expertise and experience during his career in the field of VAT, custom duties and law of collection of taxes. He is also often asked by his economic background and knowledge of Dutch GAAP/IFRS for complex tax compliance issues. He gladly enters into consultation with the tax authorities for his clients. If a solution or an amicable settlement with the tax authorities is not possible, he does not hesitate to confront the tax authorities and regularly conducts objection and appeal procedures for his clients.
Diederik studied Dutch civil law and Dutch tax law at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam. He previously worked for Arthur Andersen, Van Mens & Wisselink Advocaten & Tax Advisers, VMW Taxand N.V. and Ekelmans & Meijer Advocaten.
